Caledonia
Last year Scotland celebrated the
250th Birthday of Robert Burns (Scotland’s greatest poet)
and because of this was designated “Homecoming Scotland”
year.
The Anthem of the event was a song called “Caledonia”, (originally
a 70s Scottish folk ballad written by Dougie MacLean). The song has
been recorded by a variety of Scotland’s top artists and this version
sees Jackie adding her own unique voice to the patriotic homeward call
to all Scots abroad.
The
song was recorded and mixed in Scotland at The Citrus Factory and
mastered at Parrothouse Studios in Spain. It was arranged and produced
by Steve Thiebault and features Scotland’s own Willie Logan on guitars.
“It
was fantastic
collaborating again with Willie and Steve, says Jackie. “They’re
both
such
amazingly talented people and I’m really delighted with our
original take on it”.
Jackie’s
classically romantic interpretation of “Caledonia” creates the perfect
combination of the Scottish and Nashville sound. Listen for yourself
and see if you don’t agree.
